Climate change affects us in the UK to the point where it’s not unusual to experience all four seasons in one day. According to Met Office, the month of April 2021had the lowest temperatures experienced since 1922 and according to latest weather reports, more cold days are to be expected.

What does this mean for our skin? Well…it’s not exactly a spa treatment, and unfortunately mask wearing doesn’t help either.

Fear not however, because 24-year-old Beauty Specialist Amber Liles five solutions that she finds rather “sexy”!

Amber has been interested in make-up for as long as she remembers and working at Boots in Canary Wharf, London, she says she’s been able to identify and sample products that work and products that just don’t.

Going through the whole ‘shebang’ she starts off with:

1) The Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser, “At the minute, my second cleanser, it hasn’t changed for about half a year now because I find this one so incredible and it works for everybody, dry skin, oily skin, combo skin”.

2) Amber says she skips toners as most of them contain alcohol which she feels is unnecessary to put on your face after cleansing. Her recommendation instead is to use a serum, specifically the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum. “It’s so nice, it’s so hydrating. I feel like my skin is plump and bright and its perfect for putting moisturiser on…it creates a flawless canvas for you to paint on”

3) In terms of moisturiser, she suggests the Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Spf 30. “It’s great if you’re an oilier skin type and you don’t want to go over the top”

4) That concludes the prepping before make-up. “I’ve been trying a lot of foundations for the mask wearing and a lot of them do keep really well. But nothing and I really mean nothing I have tried keeps as well as the Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Foundation”.

5) Saving the best for last, Benefit Cosmetics has recently launched there new setting spray, Porefessional Super Setter Spray, to which Amber says has received an immense number of positive reviews and will help towards keeping make-up at bay whilst wearing a mask all day!

Henna Qureshi, 25, who works alongside Amber at Boots says she’s always in agreement with Amber’s suggestions. “I have to say, she’s really skilled and what I love about our job role is that we can both recommend various products from different brands as we’re not tide down to just one, being a beauty specialist”.

Try these recommendations and see how they work for yourself!
